Bit-Part Actor
 "Crash Course"

Bit-Part Actor
Bit-Part Actor
CD
(Braille Records, 1996)

Sorry, today's selection is not a Budgie cover; that'd be "Crash Course in Brain Surgery."

Anyhow . . .

I've been a customer of the excellent Wayside Music for well over twenty years, now. They often get in super-cheap CDs, and I often buy the ones that look interesting. Such was the case with Bit-Part Actor. I think it was $4.

Of the five musicians involved, I knew of Ikue Mori via her drumming in the delciously abrasive no wave trio DNA, but the rest were strangers to me. In light of this, I shall let the liner notes speak for themselves:

After eight years in New York I retuned to Australia and New Zealand, to do a concert tour with Ikue Mori. One of the dates was this improvisation with Sydney musicians, recorded for broadcast by ABC radio. Back in New York, I edited those tapes into this finished form. - David Watson 1996

Musicians:

  • Jim Denly: Sax, Flute
  • Ikue Mori: Drum Machines
  • Rik Rue: Tapes, Samples
  • Amanda Stuart:: Voice
  • David Watson: Guitar

I typed the liner notes as they appear on the sleeve; I cannot tell you if "retuned" is a typo or a pun. Deal with it.
